Here are a few things you should know about wire transfers that will help you or your sender avoid delayed or returned wires and unnecessary fees.

Sending a domestic wire

If you need to send more than $10,000 call us at 210-531-USAA that's 210-531-8722. Outgoing wire transfer requests received Monday through Friday by 4 p.m. CT are generally processed the same day. Our domestic wire offices are closed on weekends and federal holidays.

What you need to send a domestic wire

We recommend that you personally verify your recipient's information before sending a wire.

  • Amount you want to send
  • Recipient's
  • Bank name
  • Recipient's
  • Full name of the recipient, which is the person or business receiving the funds
  • Recipient's address or ZIP code
  • Additional wire instructions like file number, account number and address

Sending an international wire

To send an international wire transfer, call us at 210-531-USAA that's 210-531-8722. Outgoing international wire requests received Monday through Friday by 3:30 p.m. CT are generally processed on the same day but can take up to 15 days for the recipient to receive the funds. Our international wire offices are closed on weekends and federal holidays.

  • Amount you want to send in U.S. dollars or foreign currency
  • Purpose of the payment
  • Recipient's bank code or
  • Name of the recipient's international bank
  • Address of international bank
  • Recipient's
  • Full name of the recipient, which is the person or business receiving the funds
  • Recipient's physical address
