  • Replacement cost coverage is standard.See note8

This means that, after your deductible is paid, we could cover your things at today's cost, no matter their age. When we cover your loss, you could get enough to buy a new TV, computer or other item if your old one is stolen or damaged.

  • Cadets get added benefits.

You'll get expanded coverage for your class ring at no extra cost. That means you're covered if the ring is lost or accidentally damaged.

  • We make it easy to file claims.

You can quickly file and track your claims online. Your claims adjuster will provide support throughout the process. It's also simple to manage your policy on the USAA Mobile App.

How much personal property coverage do I need?

You can choose the amount of coverage on your policy and decide if you want liability insurance. It's your policy to customize.

  • Personal Property

The amount of personal property coverage you need depends on how much your belongings are worth. To get an idea of your coverage needs, create an inventory of your things, estimating their value. Then, look at the total cost you might have to pay to repair or replace them.

  • Liability

Liability coverage helps protect your assets and future income. When deciding on this coverage, consider your net worth and your risk of being held responsible for injuries and damages.

Senior Military College Personal Property Insurance FAQ

It's protection for your belongings no matter where they're housed or moving to next. Our policy offers worldwide coverage for your personal belongings whether they're in a dorm or barracks, at your family home or overseas.

Liability coverage helps protect you if you're held responsible for harm to another person or their belongings.

When getting a personal property policy through USAA, you can choose if you want to include this coverage. To help you decide, consider:

  • Your net worth, which is the value of your assets minus any debts you owe.
  • Your risk of being held financially responsible for injury or damages.

It could be. Your parents can check their homeowners policy to see if you have coverage when away from home or on campus. One thing to think about — deductibles are generally higher on a homeowners policy than on our military college personal property policies.

Let's say a homeowners policy has a $2,000 deductible and your $750 guitar is stolen. You won't be paid for the theft of your guitar because the guitar's value is less than the policy's deductible.

Having a property policy of your own can also be part of your financial journey — as you start a military career and life on your own.
