Has your vehicle arrived in Cuba?
- If you plan to purchase an additional vehicle, USAA can insure vehicles privately owned and registered on base to you and your spouse.
- Because the auto policy only protects you while driving on Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, ID cards aren't needed or produced. But a binder reflecting your coverage may be issued upon request.
- Your policy extends coverage to the United States and may protect you and other licensed drivers in your household when operating non-owned vehicles in the U.S.
Returning to the United States?
Once you've removed your name from the vehicle registration and taken all the insurance documents out of the vehicle, you can cancel insurance at any time. But you must pay a premium for any coverage you've received. If you're shipping your vehicle to the U.S., you'll need to keep your Cuban policy until it arrives.
