Collectibles insurance FAQ
If it's worth collecting, it's worth protecting. With agreed-value coverage, you'll receive the value of your collectibles minus any applicable deductible in case of covered theft or damage.See note2See Note
An agreed-value collectibles policy insures your collectibles for their market value at the time you purchase the policy. Market value is based on established industry guides, the condition and rarity of the items, and any special features.
If you insure your collection with a standard personal property policy, you'd likely receive only the cost to repair or replace the item minus your deductible.
For example, if you insure your model train collection and layout for agreed-value coverage of $30,000 and a house fire destroys them, you'd get $30,000 minus your deductible. If you insure the same collection under a standard property policy, you may possibly receive the cost to replace your vintage train collection with a new train collection minus your deductible. The amount to replace a new version of your vintage train collection would likely be significantly less than you'd receive with agreed-value.See note3
