What our renters policies typically cover

  • Liability, legal and limited medical costs for damage or injuries at your rental

  • Reimbursement for food and temporary lodging if you can't live in your rental because of a covered event

    • Your damaged furniture, electronics and other items
    • Theft and vandalism may be covered.
  • Refrigerated food that has spoiled due to power outage or other covered event

How deductibles work

A deductible is what's subtracted from your claim's total payment amount. The average deductible starts at about $250. If you had $2,000 in damaged or stolen items, and a $250 deductible, you'd pay the first $250 to repair or replace your things. We'd cover the rest.

How the claims process works

You'll give us details on usaa.com or the USAA Mobile app.

  2. Step 2: USAA provides an estimate.

We'll review what was damaged or stolen and write an estimate.

  3. Step 3: We'll send the payment.
