[Bijan holding donation Super Bowl tickets and speaking.]

Hey what's up, guys?

[The words, “Bijan Robinson, Running Back,” appear on screen.]

[00:01]

This Bijan Robinson here, I'm here in North Carolina.

[A photo of Marine veteran Mark Cauble appears on screen.]

Going to surprise a deserving military Veteran with two Super Bowl tickets. Let's go.

[Camera zooms in on the logo of the American Legion.]

[00:08]

[The words, “David Shore, National Executive Committeeman,” appear on screen.]

[David speaking.]

The American Legion is our nation's largest wartime Veterans organization. We are a Legion family.

[00:14]

[The words, “Mark Cauble, USMC Veteran, Adjutant, American Legion North Carolina,” appear on screen.]

[Mark speaking.]

I served nine years in the United States Marine Corps Infantry 0341 Mortarman. I joined the American Legion because I wanted to continue my service to my community, state and nation.

[00:23]

[Shot of Bijan on headphones in a separate room listening to Mark speak.]

Man, this guy is, you know, just really deserving man. And it's just so inspirational to see. And I just can't wait to surprise him.

[00:29]

[Shot of Bijan walking up behind Mark with the donation tickets gift wrapped.]

[00:37]

[Mark speaking.]

What the? What's up? Hey. How you doing? Oh, my God, that's a Falcon right there.

[Bijan and Mark clasp hands as they laugh.]

[00:43]

[Bijan speaking.]

I just want to say just thank you for, you know, everything that you've done. I have a surprise for you from USAA and from the NFL.

[00:50]

[Mark speaking.]

This is a ticket.

[00:51]

[Bijan speaking.]

You're going to the Super Bowl.

[00:52]

[Mark speaking.]

Me?

[00:53]

[Bijan speaking.]

Yup. You're going to the Super Bowl.

[00:55]

[Bijan and Mark shake hands.]

[Mark laughs.]

Dang. Yeah, yeah. I can't believe that. Two Super Bowl tickets. I'm stoked man, I mean.

[01:01]

[Bijan speaking to camera.]

I think he was definitely surprised, which is always a good feeling. Oftentimes people compare NFL and the military. But I think the military is way more, you know, extreme and grand risking their lives every single day to help all of us as people.

[01:15]

[Shot of Bijan and Mark smiling as they hold the jumbo tickets together.]

[Mark speaking.]

This is an honor and for Bijan coming all the way out here to even give it to me is unbelievable.

[01:23]

[Mark speaking in front of Bijan and other members of the American Legion.]

I owe a lot of thanks to my mentors in the Legion as well, because I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. And of course, all of my Veterans that served with me and who I served with. You know, my daughter's a Marine as well. So.

[Members of the American Legion applaud Mark.]

[01:40]

[Mark speaking.]

Thank you so much. Emotional. But it's awesome. I appreciate it man.

[Mark and Bijan embrace.]

[01:45]

[Mark speaking.]

Thank you to the American Legion, USAA, NFL, Bijan Robinson, for getting me the tickets to the Super Bowl.

[01:51]

[Bijan speaking to camera.]

Big thank you to USAA and the NFL for allowing me to surprise Mark Cauble with the Super Bowl tickets.

[01:57]

[Close up of Bijan speaking to camera and smiling.]

Let's go.

[00:00]

[USAA and Salute to Service logos appear on screen side by side.]

[Bo speaking to camera.]

Well, it was probably one of the coolest things I've ever done.

[00:03]

[Joe speaking to camera.]

I would totally agree.

[Shot of Bo and Joe flying in a Black Hawk helicopter, exciting music in background.]

[00:07]

[Joe speaking.]

That was unreal.

[00:08]

[Bo speaking to camera.]

[The words, “Bo Nix, Draft Prospect,” appear on screen.]

Hey, what's up everyone? My name is Bo Nix.

[00:10]

[Joe speaking to camera.]

[The words, “Joe Alt, Draft Prospect,” appear on screen.]

My name's Joe Alt. I'm here at the Selfridge Air National Guard base.

[00:14]

[Bo speaking to camera.]

I've never been in a helicopter before, so this will be my first time and what better place to do it than here?

[00:19]

[Joe speaking to camera.]

I'm hoping it's similar to the motion sickness on a boat.

[00:21]

[Bo points to Black Hawk helicopter.]

That one's got motion sickness written all over it.

[00:25]

[The words, “Matt Brancato, Brigadier General, Selfridge Air National Guard Base Commander,” appear on screen.]

[Matt speaking to camera.]

We're really excited that Detroit is hosting the NFL draft this year and so for us to have a couple players come out, it's a big morale boost for the team here.

[Various shots of Bo and Joe meeting service members, autographing footballs and taking pictures.]

[00:33]

[Bo speaking to camera.]

I wouldn't be able to do what I do on a daily basis without the men and women that serve our country.

[00:37]

[Joe speaking to camera.]

Military has always been very important to me and my family, so I'm looking forward to meeting them and getting to hear some of their stories.

[00:42]

[Service member speaking.]

So we have the KC 135 over here.

[00:44]

[Bo speaking.]

[Shot of Bo and Joe in the cockpit of the KC 135.]

Woah this thing is gigantic. I wouldn't have much control flying with him because he just wants to hog it.

[00:51]

[Service member speaking.]

What you're looking at here is an A-10C Warthog, shoots about 70 rounds per second.

[00:55]

[Service member speaking and pointing to Joe.]

My friend here is going to fit in there.

[00:57]

[Joe speaking.]

All right. We'll see.

[00:58]

[Service member speaking.]

Watch your head.

[00:59]

[Joe speaking.]

I never thought I would have fit in that. There's no way I was going to be able to like, sit up normal. But I was able to sit up straight. It was really cool to be in there.

[01:08]

[The words, “Paul Fitzpatrick, Major, JFHQ-MI,” appear on screen.]

[Paul speaking.]

Today we're going to see some winds, so it's gonna be a little bumpy. Next thing you can expect is some pretty cool views.

[01:13]

[The words, “Cody Rambo, Sergeant, B 1/147 AHB,” appear on screen.]

[Cody speaking.]

If you guys think you're gonna throw up, we've got some bags.

[Bo and Joe laugh.]

[Various shots of Bo and Joe getting in the Black Hawk helicopter, taking off and flying.]

[01:31]

[Shots of skyline views over the city.]

[Bo speaking.]

When you're up there going, it's not as bad as what I thought it was going to be, but going up and coming down is when you're like, woah, we're actually moving. But it was cool to see over top of everything. Seeing everything we saw. Getting to interact with everyone. It was an awesome day.

[01:54]

[Shot of Bo and Joe back on base meeting service members.]

[Joe speaking to camera.]

Being able to meet military members and just really appreciate what they do and get to know them has been pretty special for me. Really just want to show my gratitude for them and all their service that they do for us.

[02:03]

[Bo speaking on the airfield next to Joe.]

We just want to say thank you to USAA and the service members stationed at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

[02:09]

[Joe speaking.]

We had a great time, and it was great to learn and see how these people can defend our country.

[02:13]

[Shot of a Bo and Joe with a group of service members lined up for a picture.]

Go Guard!

Jimmy Garoppolo hits nine G's with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds

NFL quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo braces for his biggest tackle yet as he takes on nine times the force of gravity in an F-16 Fighting Falcon. Luckily, he's got America's best fighter pilots backing him. But will the nine G's be too much for him?

Video transcript: Jimmy Garoppolo hits nine G's with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds

Video Duration: Six minutes, forty-four seconds

Transcript Date: July 18, 2024

[00:00]

[Shot of Thunderbirds trailing smoke as they fly across the sky.]

[Shot of Jimmy G about to climb into a Thunderbird and quick cuts of pilots flying.]

There's some nervousness. A little gameday jitter-type feels. Gotta get ready for the G's. I heard it hits you pretty good.

[00:11]

[Taylor speaking off camera with shots of Jimmy G's training on screen.]

The training that Jimmy G has to go through today to fly is very extensive to handle the G's and the intense forces that he's going to experience.

[00:16]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

They're the best of the best. So I feel like I'm in good hands.

[00:20]

[Shots of Thunderbirds flying over Las Vegas.]

[Close up of Jimmy G. speaking to camera.]

We're at Nellis Air Force Base outside Vegas. About to fly some jets, man.

[Jimmy G laughs.]

[The words, “Whistle, I could do that, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition,” appear on screen.]

[00:30]

[The words, “Jimmy Garappolo, Las Vegas Raiders QB,” appear on screen.]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

Just coming here, there's a sense of pride that you feel. That's a sign of a good team. My grandpa was in the military. He was in the Marines. He always had a sense of pride.

[00:42]

[Jimmy walks into a hangar and shakes hands with Kaity.]

[The words, “Capt. Kaity Toner, Call Sign 'Agent',” appear on screen.]

Hey, Jimmy, I want to formally welcome you to the home of the Thunderbirds. I hear we're going to get you up in a red, white and blue F-16 today. Think you can handle that?

[00:52]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

I could do that.

[00:52]

[Kaity speaking.]

All right, let's get started.

[00:55]

[Kaity speaking to camera.]

The Thunderbirds are, without a doubt, the most experienced fighter pilots in the Air Force. And they are truly the best of the best.

[Exciting music builds up.]

We are building an elite team. And it takes all 135 members of the Thunderbirds. For us, team chemistry is everything.

[01:13]

[Taylor speaking.]

Today we're flying F-16 Fighting Falcon. Also known as the Viper.

[01:16]

[The words, “Maj. Taylor Wight, Call Sign 'Flash',” appear on screen.]

And so it is a multi-role fighter for the United States Air Force that we're going to be going and raging around in today.

[01:24]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

I've never done anything like this. I've driven fast, but I think that's nothing compared to this. It's going to be intense.

[01:31]

[Taylor speaking.]

Jimmy G's used to getting hit on the field. This is a different kind of getting hit. Driving in your car, if you have a lead foot, you may get up to two G's if you're just cranking around the corner. Roller coasters. You'll probably maybe get to three G's. In the jet today we can pull up to 9.0 G's, 2.0 Mach. So roughly, you're thinking about 1,500 miles an hour. You know, you're a 225-pound guy pulling nine G's. So you're weighing over 2,000 pounds and you're trying to breathe through that.

[01:54]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

Okay.

[Taylor speaking.]

It's going to take a toll and be taxing on your body.

[Close up of Taylor on camera.]

Will Jimmy G be able to handle those nine G's? We're going to have to see.

[02:03]

[Various shots of Thunderbirds, mechanics and pilots.]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

Yeah. Preparation is everything. I mean, the Thunderbirds, honestly, it's very similar to being in the league. You get the best of the best at what they do. And the amount of preparation that goes into just me flying in this thing with my guy Flash today, it's crazy the similarities. There is an endless amount of possibilities in football. So you could prepare forever. And when you're prepared, you don't really get that same nervous feeling. It's more of, excited to put on display what you've been studying or what you've been working on.

[02:28]

[Taylor speaking.]

So, the training that Jimmy G has to go through today to fly with us here on the Thunderbirds, it's very extensive. He will meet with Angry. He's our flight doc. And that's where we're going to get into how to keep blood flow to your brain, to handle the G's and the intense forces that he's going to experience when he flies with me.

[02:40]

[Angry speaking.]

The more G's you pull, the more air it forces into your mask.

[02:43]

[Taylor speaking.]

After that, he's going to go to AFE, our Air Crew Flight Equipment shop. And that's where he gets suited up with all the gear. You got to have your uniform, helmet good to go. He's going to get fitted up to a harness that actually straps to the jet. He's going to get a G suit. But they have air bladders in them and so they will expand and help force that blood up to keep it in his cranium.

[02:59]

[Service member speaking to Jimmy G.]

All right. Whenever you're ready. Deep breath in and hold.

[03:03]

[Taylor speaking.]

Then he's going to come to me and I will give him all the tips and techniques to be safe. And then we'll get to the other objectives of having fun and making sure he has a great time. If he can do nothing else, just listen to me. I'm going to take care of him. I'm going to talk him through everything. And so if he can just listen and comprehend my voice, he's going to be okay.

[03:20]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

You know, being on a new team out here in Vegas, it's a good opportunity for me. But no one's going to give you that trust. No teammate will ever just hand it to you and say, “I trust you.” It's got to be earned. Leadership and confidence kind of go hand in hand with one another. If you don't have that presence about you, it's hard to command the huddle. That's the biggest thing about being a quarterback. Then you got to throw the ball pretty well too.

[Jimmy G laughs.]

[03:39]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

You get a group of people and you're all pushing in the same direction. People start to follow. And it's very similar to the military. When you jump into a jet with somebody, you're putting your life on the line. It's a unique bond. It seems like everyone around the base has with one another.

[03:52]

[Shot of Jimmy G walking out a door and fist-bumping Taylor.]

I feel like I just went through training camp. Team's ready to go. I'm ready to go. I think Flash can take care of me up there. Thinking about the breathing techniques right now. Kind of rolling with the punches right now. Gonna have some fun out there.

[04:03]

[Jimmy G. approaching a lineup of Thunderbird pilots clapping and shaking hands with him.]

I'm very excited, but there is some nervousness. A little gameday jitter-type feels. You want to have that feeling. That means you care about it. Means you're excited about it. That's kind of how I'm feeling today.

[04:16]

[Taylor speaking.]

Whenever I take the runway, yeah, there's that adrenaline rush. You feel like all your senses are heightened. Here we go. It's game time.

[Shots of Jimmy G and Taylor getting into the Thunderbird and taking off.]

[04:38]

[Jimmy G speaking off camera with shots of him in the Thunderbird on screen.]

It gets real, real quick.

[04:41]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Ready to do this?

[04:43]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

You take off and it's kind of cool. And before you know it, you're however many feet above the ground.

[04:48]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

There you go, buddy. Hell yeah!

[04:52]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Holy...

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Yeah, buddy. Let's go! That's obviously downtown Vegas. You see the strip down there.

[05:01]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

That's crazy, man.

[05:02]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

You see the stadium down there.

[05:05]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Dude, it is beautiful up here.

[05:06]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Ah, it's gorgeous. Alright. Cockpit check. That's where we roll inverted and make sure nothing falls out.

[Shot of the Thunderbird rolling as it flies.]

[05:25]

[Taylor speaking on camera.]

This is where I'll say, “Hey Jimmy, are you ready to join the 9G club?” As long as he is, that's where we're going to grip and rip it.

[05:31]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

I'm good for nine.

[05:32]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Alright. That's what I like to hear, Jimmy. That's what I like to hear.

[05:37]

[Taylor speaking on camera.]

And then we're going to punch a ticket for the 9G club.

[05:40]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

So you want to go right to the nine G's?

[05:41]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

You tell me. You think I'm good for it? Let's go for it.

[05:44]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Only one way to find out.

[05:45]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Hell yeah.

[05:46]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Alright, you ready to go?

[05:47]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Let's go!

[05:49]

[Taylor speaking on camera.]

Smash on the jet. As we accelerate, I'm going to say to Jimmy: Squeeze. Breathe. Here come the G's.

[Shot of the Thunderbird accelerating, and Jimmy G pressed back in the seat.]

[06:03]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

How's it going?

[06:04]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Good!

[06:06]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Hell yeah, man!

[06:06]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

That was it?

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

That's it!

[06:07]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Let's go!

[06:08]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Let's go! Hell yeah! What do you think?

[06:16]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

That's nuts. Just gotta catch my breath.

[06:18]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Yeah, no worries.

[06:19]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

I'm pretty spent.

[06:19]

[Taylor speaking over the comm system.]

Yeah, let's do it.

[06:20]

[Jimmy G speaking over the comm system.]

Those G's hit me pretty hard.

[06:24]

[Shot of Jimmy G and Taylor landing.]

[Jimmy G speaking on camera.]

I just want to thank USAA, Nellis Air Force Base and the Thunderbirds for letting me fly with some of the best in the world today.

[Shots of Jimmy G with Thunderbird pilots and taking a photo with them.]

[06:35]

[Jimmy G speaking.]

Let's do it again sometime! So, thank you!

[06:37]

[Taylor speaking.]

Can Jimmy G become a part of the Thunderbirds and be a member of our team? Yeah, he could do that.

My Cause My Cleats

NFL tight end Hayden Hurst honors Face the Fight & The Hayden Hurst Family Foundation for My Cause My Cleats to raise awareness of veteran suicide prevention in partnership with USAA.

Video transcript: My Cause My Cleats

Video Duration: Three minutes, fifty-three seconds

Transcript Date: July 18, 2024

[00:00]

[Vernard speaking.]

I'll be able to tell my grandkids one day that I played in the NFL.

[00:03]

[Melissa speaking.]

I wouldn't take it that far.

[00:04]

[Vernard speaking.]

I will be on the field in the cleats.

[00:07]

[Upbeat music plays.]

[Hayden speaking.]

Hi, I'm Hayden Hurst, tight end for the Carolina Panthers.

[Various shots of decaled football cleats.]

[00:10]

The My Cause My Cleats game is so important to me. Anything that I can do to support the military, active-duty members, that's what I plan on doing.

[00:18]

[Slow, reflective music plays.]

[The words, “Hayden has chosen Face the Fight to be on his cleats alongside the Hayden Hurst Family Foundation,” appear on screen.]

[00:26]

[The words, “Face the Fight is a coalition supporting veteran suicide prevention awareness,” appear on screen.]

[00:29]

[The words, “Melissa Lopez, Army Reserve,” and “Vernard Hines, Army Veteran,” appear on screen.]

[Vernard speaking.]

So, today we're sitting here in Charlotte, North Carolina. We will be speaking with Mr. Hayden Hurst, the tight end for the Carolina Panthers. And we're going to be talking about veteran suicide awareness and mental health awareness.

[00:40]

[Hayden comes on set and sits down with Vernard and Melissa.]

Hey, guys. How you doing?

[00:41]

[Vernard speaking.]

What's up. Nice to meet you.

[00:42]

[Melissa speaking.]

Nice to meet you.

[00:43]

[Hayden speaking.]

I wanted you guys to be a part of this conversation. I know our foundations kind of link up a little bit as far as veteran suicide and military appreciation. When I got drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, me and my family started a foundation focused on adolescent and suicide prevention. We've kind of transitioned to military and suicide prevention as well.

[01:01]

[Close up of Hayden speaking with Vernard and Melissa.]

It's certainly been a wild ride for me to get to year six in the NFL and to get to 30 years of age. I had a lot of stuff going on mentally. I had a lot of addiction problems. Just try to mask it by playing sports. You know, try to forget about it. But I think, as we all know, if you don't deal with your problems, they'll come back to bite you. Unfortunately for me, one night, I attempted suicide. Tried to cut my wrists.

[01:22]

[Close up of Hayden now speaking to camera.]

For me, it was kind of my rock bottom moment. I was leading myself down a path of destruction.

[01:28]

[Melissa speaking to camera.]

I lost my sister to suicide. Seeing the way that it destroyed my family, I couldn't do something to myself, to harm myself and know that that's something that my family would live through a second time.

[01:40]

[Vernard speaking to camera.]

At one time, I was 24 hours away from suicide. I had planned it out.

[01:43]

[Vernard speaking with Hayden and Melissa.]

What led me to ask for help was my 12-year-old daughter, saying she was scared of me. When I come from work, she didn't know whether she could come and play with me. Whether she could say hi. It was just so much. I realized I need to seek help.

[01:57]

[Melissa speaking to camera.]

The stigma around mental health has definitely improved. I still think we have a ways to go.

[02:03]

[Vernard speaking to camera.]

If we want to break the stigma. Do not feel bad that you need help. Look at it as: I'm not going to get help; I'm going to get a resource.

[02:12]

[Hayden speaking with Vernard and Melissa.]

I could not be more excited to partner up with Face the Fight and the Hayden Hurst Family Foundation. There's a lot of core values that are similar. So merging those and being able to display them on my cleats for a game is huge for me.

[02:24]

[Hayden speaking to camera.]

My left cleat is going to be the foundations. It's going to be a little bit of a blue and black digital camo. And then my right cleat is going to be more of like a military boot.

[02:31]

[Melissa speaking to camera.]

This coalition is important because of all the resources that it brings to the table for veterans, and all the awareness and engagement it's trying to create.

[02:42]

[Vernard speaking to camera.]

Face the Fight is bringing that camaraderie back together where we can share things and be like, you understand me.

[02:49]

[Hayden speaking to camera.]

It is the most liberating feeling when you have people in your corner. When you feel like you're not fighting by yourself.

[02:54]

[Hayden speaking with Vernard and Melissa.]

I have life experiences that I went through. If one person can resonate with it, I've done my job.

[02:59]

[Melissa speaking to camera.]

It means a lot for me to share with others that they're going to be better days, and that life is worth holding on to.

[Hayden speaking with Vernard and Melissa.]

Thank you, guys, for coming here today. I will be representing both foundations on my cleats and if it was okay with you guys, I was going to add you as well.

These cleats mean a lot more than just Hayden Hurst. You got family on there. Suicide prevention. And this is exactly what I had in mind.

[03:43]

[Quick cuts of Hayden holding the cleats and smiling.]

It's an incredible cause, man. I'm glad that I get to wear these and bring light to this conversation.
