USAA Deposit@Mobile® FAQ

General

You must have a USAA Federal Savings Bank (USAA FSB) checking or savings account in good standing.

Minors age 13 to 17 can use Deposit@Mobile if their parent or guardian enables the option located in Parental Control settings.

Yes. To see your daily maximum deposit amount, logon to the USAA Mobile App and select "Deposit." As a reminder, the deposit limit is the maximum aggregate amount you can deposit into all of your accounts of which you are an owner.

You may qualify for a temporary deposit limit increase within the USAA Mobile App by visiting Deposit@Mobile and selecting "See more deposit options." Alternative options include: 

‍ ‍We only accept checks from a U.S. financial institution, in U.S. dollars. The following check types are generally eligible for mobile deposit:

  • Personal checks
  • Paychecks
  • U.S. Treasury checks
  • Cashier's and teller's checks

The following are some examples of check types that you shouldn't deposit via USAA Deposit@Mobile:

  • U.S. savings bonds
  • Checks from foreign banks
  • Checks not payable in U.S. dollars
  • Checks with obvious alteration

Note, we may accept or reject any item transmitted through USAA Deposit@Mobile at our discretion. Please see the Remote Deposit Capture User Agreement for more information.

 

Your check endorsement should read:

Your signature followed by "For mobile deposit at USAA FSB account number [XXXXX]."

Once your check is deposited:

  • Save the confirmation for your records.
  • Write “Electronically Presented” or “VOID” across the front of the check as a security measure.
  • In case we need the check for verification purposes, hold on to it for 30 days. You don't need to send us the check.

If you received a confirmation but your current balance doesn't include the deposit amount, we can help. Call us at 210-531-USAA (8722).

If you didn't receive a confirmation, the deposit didn't go through and you'll need to resubmit your check.

Deposits made using USAA Deposit@Mobile are generally available to you the first business day after the day we receive your deposit. We may hold all or a portion of the funds deposited, and any hold times and amounts will be displayed within the USAA Mobile App before you transmit the item. Yes. Checks deposited at or after 9 p.m. CT on a business day or anytime on a nonbusiness day (Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday) are generally available immediately for cash withdrawals and debit card transactions, subject to any holds. But the deposit may not be available to pay certain items that may process the same day, including automated clearing house (ACH) transactions and checks.

Deposit errors

No. If there is a discrepancy between the amount that you enter and the amount of the funds, USAA FSB may adjust your amount for the error. You have 60 days to notify us of a deposit error or we consider the deposit amount on the account statement finally settled. You can move funds not placed on hold into your desired account using the transfer funds service. Funds transferred using the transfer funds service are generally available right away when transferring between your USAA FSB accounts.

No. Attempting to deposit a check that has previously been returned will result in a duplicate deposit attempt.
